WINTER APPEAL

As we all know well, shelter will not be a possibility for all this Winter. Despite the hard work put in by countless workers and members of the community, this winter will still be mean cold, wet and hungry nights in a doorway for many. It is for this reason that the Haven has pioneered the use of the space bag for people in need of emergency shelter. The space bag is essentially a sleeping bag designed for the streets. It is light, warm, and dry, and easy to fld and carry.

So it is that we turn to you, our supporters and fellow Capetonians, for help. Currently we are selling the space bags to street people for R5 each - although they cost us over R20 to manufacture. If you would like to make a donation (in multiples of R20) to cover the shortfall you may contact the Haven at 021- 461 7830. They are also available to members of the public for R24. They make excellent survival bags for hikers, fishermen, etc.

Please help the Haven make a difference this Winter. All donations financial or otherwise are welcome.

Making a difference doesn’t have to cost much, and as always the difference is made by ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Please help us to care for the Homeless. Help us to help them back home.

To make available temporary shelter, rehabilitation opportunities, social welfare services, family reunification services, physical care and support to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.
To partner and co-operate with religious institutions, organisations, welfare bodies, service providers, businesses, government departments, local authorities and individuals concerned with the care and welfare of the destitute.
To promote community awareness of the social problems arising out of destitution and to encourage the participation of the public in the alleviation of such problems.
To reduce the opportunities for people to continue to live on the streets.
