Our Operational Structures

The Haven invites community structures rendering services to homeless persons to partner us in the process of developing services, rehabilitation opportunities for the homeless and if the need exists, to establish a shelter in their area.

The Haven maintains stringent controls over the finances, fund raising and the financial management services of each of its projects and or shelters. In all other respects the Haven strives to support the autonomy of individual shelter committees over the day to day affairs of the shelter subject to the constitution of the Haven Night Shelter Welfare Organisation.

All properties and leases of the organisation are held in the name of the Haven Night Shelter Utility Company whose directors are the Office Bearers of the HNWO.

The affairs of the Utility Company and all the shelter committees are reported on in the consolidated Annual Financial Statements at the AGM of the Haven Organisation.

Our Mission

To make available temporary shelter, rehabilitation opportunities, social welfare services, family reunification services, physical care and support to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.
To partner and co-operate with religious institutions, organisations, welfare bodies, service providers, businesses, government departments, local authorities and individuals concerned with the care and welfare of the destitute.
To promote community awareness of the social problems arising out of destitution and to encourage the participation of the public in the alleviation of such problems.
To reduce the opportunities for people to continue to live on the streets.
