The Haven invites community structures rendering services to homeless persons to partner us in the process of developing services, rehabilitation opportunities for the homeless and if the need exists, to establish a shelter in their area.

The Haven maintains stringent controls over the finances, fund raising and the financial management services of each of its projects and or shelters. In all other respects the Haven strives to support the autonomy of individual shelter committees over the day to day affairs of the shelter subject to the constitution of the Haven Night Shelter Welfare Organisation.

All properties and leases of the organisation are held in the name of the Haven Night Shelter Utility Company whose directors are the Office Bearers of the HNWO.

The affairs of the Utility Company and all the shelter committees are reported on in the consolidated Annual Financial Statements at the AGM of the Haven Organisation.

The Haven 'Passport'

Rather than giving your R5 or R10 to a person on the street, there is a better option; The Haven 'Passport'. It gives the homeless person entry to one of our shelters and includes a hot shower, a clean set of clothes, a nourishing meal and a bed (if available). Passports can be purchased from The Haven Head Office or at any of our shelters @ R10 each.
